# Plans and modules

**You'll need:** `Billing Administrator` or `Administrator`. **Administration → Billing.**

A plan decides two things: which **modules** the workspace holds, and how many **credits**
it gets each period.

## Modules

A module is a whole area of the product: media, design, presentations, voice, the API,
and so on. A workspace holds the modules its plan includes. The rest are absent: no
screens, no menu entries, and an explicit message if you reach one another way.

An administrator cannot grant a module. See [permissions and
access](/guide/admin/permissions) for how modules differ from permissions.

**Administration → Billing** lists exactly which modules the workspace holds.

## Trials

New workspaces start on a **14-day trial** of the plan they chose, with no charge on day
one and cancellation available at any time. The header shows **Trial**.

A trial includes the plan's modules with a smaller credit allowance. Converting changes
the allowance, not the workspace: nothing is migrated or lost.

## Change plan

Choose **Change Plan** on the billing screen. Plans are billed **monthly** or
**annually**, with a discount for annual billing and a matching commitment.

You confirm the change explicitly, agreeing to new subscription terms and authorizing
the charges, and it takes effect immediately.

Prices exclude any applicable taxes.

## Add-ons and top-ups

**Add-ons** are optional extras billed with the subscription and cancelable at any time.

**Top-up credits** are a one-time purchase:

> Top-up credits never expire and are used only after your plan credits run out.

A top-up is therefore not wasted if you do not need it this month. Plan credits are
consumed first, and top-ups are held in reserve behind them.

## Cancel a subscription

Cancellation takes effect at the **end of the current term** rather than immediately.
You keep the plan you paid for until it expires, after which the workspace drops to what
a canceled account holds.

## Workspaces billed outside the platform

Some workspaces are on a contract rather than self-serve. Theirs shows:

> Your plan is billed outside the platform. Plan changes, add-ons and credit purchases for
> your account are handled by your account manager.

The self-serve controls are turned off on those workspaces, and plan changes go through
your account contact.

## The usage overview

The top of **Administration** shows plan usage, credits remaining and storage at a
glance, with links into the detail. It is the fastest way to see whether you are about
to run out of something.

See [usage and credits](/guide/admin/usage-and-credits) and [storage](/guide/admin/storage).
