# Share links

A share link is a public URL to a set of files. Anyone with the link can view and
download them, without an account and without being in your workspace.

**Media → Share Links**, or **Share** on any file, selection or album.

## Create a share link

Select the files, choose **Share**, and set:

| | |
|---|---|
| **Name** | What the link is for: "Product launch photos", "Agency handoff". Names make the list readable months later. |
| **Expires in** | 1, 3, 7, 14 or 30 days, a custom date, or no expiration. |
| **Password** | Optional. Recipients must enter it before they see anything. |

Then choose **Copy link** and send it.

Set an expiry unless you have a reason not to. A link with no expiration publishes those
files permanently, which is rarely what anyone intends.

## Upload links

The same mechanism runs the other way. **Share as upload link** generates a public URL
that lets someone outside the workspace upload *into* your library: a photographer
delivering a shoot, an agency returning assets.

Everything arriving through the link gets the settings you attached to it: the album it
lands in, and any **pre-tags** you set. The link's summary shows exactly what will be
applied before you create it.

An upload link is usually better than giving an external contributor an account. They
need no sign-in, they see nothing else in your library, and the delivery arrives already
organized.

## Track what you have shared

**Media → Share Links** lists every link with the details an audit needs:

- who created it and when
- how many files it exposes
- views, downloads and uploads
- whether it has expired, and when it will

Administrators see all of them under **Administration → Share Links**; the media screen
shows the ones relevant to you.

## Deactivate a link

Deactivate the link and it stops working immediately, for everyone holding the URL. The
record stays in the list, so you keep the history of what was shared.

Anything already downloaded cannot be recalled, which is why short expiries are safer
than long ones.

## What a recipient sees

A clean page with the files, their names, and a download control. Not your library,
your tags, your albums, or anything else in the workspace. They cannot browse sideways
out of what you shared.

<Callout type="caution">
Share links are public by design: the URL is the credential. Anyone who has it, or
who is forwarded it, has access until it expires or is deactivated. Use a password
for anything you would mind seeing forwarded.
