# Plans, credits and storage

Three separate things decide what a workspace can do. Confusing them is the most common
source of "why can't I do this?"

| | |
|---|---|
| **Modules** | Whole areas of the product your plan includes: media, design, presentations, voice, and so on. Fixed by the subscription. |
| **Credits** | The fuel for anything that calls AI. Consumed as you work, refilled each billing period, and topped up when you need more. |
| **Storage** | How much the library holds. |

Roles are a fourth, separate gate and are not part of the plan: they decide what *you*
may do within what the *workspace* is entitled to. See [permissions and
access](/guide/admin/permissions).

## Modules

If your plan does not include a module, its screens are not in the sidebar and its
features do not appear. This is not a permission anyone can grant you. An administrator
cannot open it, because the entitlement belongs to the subscription rather than to the
person.

Nothing announces the absence: a module your plan lacks looks exactly like a screen
your roles lack. **Administration → Billing** is what tells the two apart: it names the
plan the workspace is on, and **Change plan** shows what each plan includes. A module your
plan includes is a role question for your administrator; one it does not is a conversation
with whoever owns billing.

## Credits

Every AI action costs credits: analyzing an uploaded photo, generating an image,
answering in chat, writing a page of website content, running a workflow step that calls
a model. Ordinary work (browsing, searching, downloading, organizing) costs nothing.

Credits are a **workspace pool**, not a personal allowance. Everyone draws from the same
balance.

You will see two warnings before anything stops:

> **You're running low on credits.** Only *n* credits are left on your plan.

> **You're out of credits.** AI features are paused because your account has run out of
> credits.

When credits are exhausted, AI features pause and everything else keeps working: you can
still browse, search, download and organize. Topping up resumes AI immediately.

See [usage and credits](/guide/admin/usage-and-credits) for where they went.

## Storage

The library's size limit, shown with a breakdown in **Administration → Storage**: what
is using it, which modules it belongs to, the largest files, and what can be reclaimed
from duplicates and the trash.

Deleted files stay recoverable for a retention window before the space is returned, so
emptying the trash frees space when you are close to the limit. See
[duplicates](/guide/media/duplicates).

## Trials

A workspace on a trial has the same modules as the plan it is trialing, with a smaller
credit allowance. **Administration → Billing** marks the plan as a trial.
Nothing is lost when the trial converts. It is the same workspace with a larger
allowance.

## Change the plan

Go to **Administration → Billing** if you hold **Billing Administrator** or
**Administrator**. From there you can change plan, buy add-ons, top up credits and open
the **Subscription Portal** for payment details and invoices.

Some workspaces are billed through a contract rather than self-serve. Those have the
self-serve controls turned off and a note naming your account contact, who makes plan
changes on your behalf.
