# Presentations

**Studio → Presentations.** A topic and a branded template in; a PowerPoint file out.

<Callout type="note">
	Presentations is marked **beta**.
</Callout>

## The wizard

Five steps, and you can go back to any of them:

<figure className="gai-fig">
	<div className="gai-fig-head">Presentation wizard</div>
	<div className="gai-fig-body">
		<ol className="gai-fig-steps">
			<li><b>Brief</b><span>Topic, audience, tone</span></li>
			<li><b>Template</b><span>Which branded deck</span></li>
			<li><b>Outline</b><span>The slides, editable</span></li>
			<li><b>Generate</b><span>Copy and images</span></li>
			<li><b>Download</b><span>The .pptx</span></li>
		</ol>
	</div>
</figure>

Review the outline step carefully. Reordering, cutting and retitling slides there costs
nothing, while making the same changes after generation means regenerating.

While the deck generates, hover any finished image to change or regenerate it without
waiting for the rest.

## The brief

Beyond the topic, three controls shape the result:

- **Audience & tone**: who is in the room and how to speak to them
- **Copywriter agent**: which of your agents writes the words, so a deck can be written
  in a particular voice or from a particular knowledge base
- **Extra instructions**: anything else, in plain language

## Images

Slides whose layout includes an image are filled automatically: the generator finds the
best matching photo in your library and produces a polished, on-brand image from it. A
slide with data can carry an infographic generated from that slide's figures, styled to
the deck.

Matching runs against the captions and keywords your files carry, so a well-described
library produces better decks. See [tags and
descriptions](/guide/media/tags-and-descriptions).

## Templates

**You'll need:** the permission to manage presentation templates. **Studio →
Presentations → Presentation templates.**

A template is a branded **.pptx** you upload, with placeholder tokens in its text boxes.
Name placeholders with double curly braces (`title`, `subtitle`, `bullet_1`,
`image_hero`) and the generator fills them.

For each layout you can add a **layout description** telling the generator what that
slide is for, and set any field's format:

- **Title**, **Subtitle**, **Heading**: text roles
- **Image**: filled automatically from your library

Without at least one template uploaded, the wizard has nothing to build in and says so.

Describe the layouts. Descriptions such as "section divider, one line of text" and
"three columns of feature copy with icons" produce noticeably better decks than
unlabeled layouts, because the outline step can match content to the right layout.

## Edit after download

The output is a standard PowerPoint file, fully editable in PowerPoint or Keynote. There
is no round trip back into the app, so treat the download as the handoff point.
